Volumes list in "Files & Folders": remove when empty

Bug Description
Hi again,
the "Files & Folders" menu in UNR Karmic Alpha 6 lists bookmarks (not folders!) and volumes. My volumes list is empty but still an empty rectangle is blocking the view at my beautiful background image.
Why not remove the rectangle which is supposed to contain that list if its empty?
Also:
The classic "Places" of GNOME has shortcuts to computer, network, connect to server..., search for files... and recent documents which are hard to reach when using the UNR interface.
(I adressed some issues with home, trash and desktop in other bug reports.)
