Bug Description

Binary package hint: texlive-latex-extra

As in previous distributions, the csquotes latex package is outdated. When I try to use it in a latex document, latex gives me this error:

! Package biblatex Error: Outdated 'csquotes' package.

This happens in an Ubuntu Jaunty desktop install, which is updated daily.

"apt-cache policy texlive-latex-extra" says:

texlive-latex-extra:
  Installed: 2007.dfsg.8-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2007.dfsg.8-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2007.dfsg.8-1ubuntu1 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Biblatex package needs csquotes one and doesn't work with the obsolete version... The new one with Karmic should be great!
Thanks!

Download from CTAN the latest version of csquotes and then as root expand it
in :

/usr/local/share/texmf/tex/latex/

you will get a csquotes directory with all the files.

Then run as root texhash to refresh the LaTeX database

LaTeX (and LyX) will then pick up the latest version

All this stuff is going to get much easier with the new version of TeXLive
which will have an automatic installer of new packages but it is not there
yet in Debian and Ubuntu

it's ok for me

Wrong. The TeX Live Manager is *not* shipped with Debian, thus it will
not be shipped with Ubuntu neither.

The reason is that tlmgr would interfere with the packaging infrastructure
of Debian/Ubuntu.

OTOH, we might now update the TL package in more regular intervals
rebasing them on current svn snapshots of upstream.

On another hand (how many do I have), if I find time and finally
complete the implementation of TeX Live Manager User Mode, so that
tlmgr can be used to manage TEXMFHOME (installation/upgrade etc)
that would help, too.

Best wishes

Norbert
