Bug Description
i am using ubuntu 9.04 and problem im facing is that the swap graph keeps flat lining on system-monitor ...i tried searching google for possible solutions ..i could find swapon -a and mount -a ...with this swap works for a while i mean one can see a certain percentage of usage being shown on the system monitor graph but as soon as i start opening a browser or open a terminal ...the graph drops to zero ..but the memory usage besides the swap starts increasing exponentially ..that is understandable as more programmes i use more the memory usage will be ...but has me confused is the graph going down to zero on swap , just to make sure my swap my running i ran the free command on the terminal
and this was the output
-/+ buffers/cache: 429388 595772
Swap: 1951856 0 1951856
i have to run the mount -a and swapon -a command everytime and logout again to make sure the swaps working
i cant understand what is wrong with the swap here

Hi tarun31,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux 433018
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
