pidgin and facebook

Binary package hint: pidgin

When you start Pidgin it tries to connect to Facebook, but he does not succeed (I do not know why). Account is automatically disabled and the message: "Error getting info from Facebook." and button "re-enable" appear. When you click, Pidgin again trying to connect, but unsucceed again, and again, and again. In web browser Facebook works fine.

This bug is caused by an API change, which is fixed in a newer version of the plugin. See also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin-facebookchat/+bug/474872 which is fixed for Karmic.

i get this error again and captcha doesn't seem to work.
with update to 1.64 of the plugin it was fixed and works just fine for weeks but since yesterday i often don't get the messages sent by friends over facebook...i see the message in the browser but it doesn't show up in Pidgin message-window, then after some time (maybe a few minutes) all messages show up in Pidgin too.
and today i can't login through Pidgin, now it always show up the captcha dialog but it doesn't work.

I'm having the same issue with the captcha. It appears to log into FB just fine then after a while, I get stuck in a continuous loop of captchas.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software, pidgin-facebookchat-plugin. Since this is not a part of pidgin itself, the pidgin developers will not attempt to fix it. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.
