Bug Description
Arch Linux /etc/issue first clear the screen and then prints "Arch Linux". Byobu lib writes the first line and so prints the control characters. I will attach the file rather than pasting it.
If this bug affects you and your distro, please attach the /etc/issue file, and note what the distro and version should be.

Slackware GNU/Linux /etc/slackware- version is a Slackware standard and can be counted on always having the same format. In case of slackware-current some users like to modify their own (to show of :) and in those cases I never saw anything different than: Slackware current, again Slackware being the first word in the first line of the file.
Default /etc/slackware- version of the last Slackware release is attached.
