Robbie - this seems to be a critical issue, but I'm not sure why the bug is in xorg, or if there is enough info from the reports to debug. Please assign to tseliot if the problem is in xorg.

How far does the boot get? Are you seeing anything on the screen after grub? Can you switch to vt1 (Ctrl-Alt-F1)?

Rick seems to have cured it.

I installed 9.10 Alpha 6 from CD. Grub booted the system but I could
not boot into the new system it continued to read out of range .

I got to reboot into new system but no luck . I did not think of the
key shift.

[Don't think a 'Critical' importance can really be assigned if we don't know whether it's still an issue, or if it's even an xorg issue.]

Like Robbie, I'm having trouble understanding what Ken is saying in his last comment. Is this still an issue?

I'll ask for some additional info assuming it is, and that it is indeed an xorg issue, however if not please close or reassign to a better location.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command in a terminal after reproducing the issue, and it it will automatically gather debugging information needed for this bug:

  apport-collect 432313

(You may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report.)

Hi, I'm still wondering if we still have a bug here or if the issue is now resolved. Ken, can you confirm/deny?

It would also be helpful if the issue still exists to have the information mentioned in my previous comment.

If we don't hear back within a week or two, I'll assume the issue is no longer relevant.
