9.04 successfully mounts CD-roms but using the same CDs in 9.10 Alpha 6 they do not appear in the Places menu or /media

Hi

i have the same problem in xubuntu 9.10 where the CD ROM is listed in dmesg and device manager however media inserted in the CD cannot be accessed and the drive appears to not be mounted. Mount -a does nothing. it appear ubuntu see the drive and correctly identified it however renders it useless??

Where is the fix to this problem?
