Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince-gtk

I currently installed evince-gtk on a Xubuntu 6.06 beta2 system. It simply didn't start and on the console was this error message:

** (evince-gtk:4798): WARNING **: Failed to create directory /home/frederik/.gnome2/evince.

After creating ~/.gnome2 manually, evince-gtk started fine.

Cannot reproduce on latest dapper. I installed it and it worked just fine, no errors/warnings on the console whatsoever.

Have you installed it on a clean system, where no gnome apps and accordingly no .gnome2 folder was present?

Maybe I just had bad luck, and it is only a small annoyance anyway. So thanks for checking that!

Actually (I thought I had this in the above comment but turns out that I forgot to mention :-) this is not on Xubuntu, but on Ubuntu dapper. It turns out that if I renamed .gnome2 to .blah, evince-gtk fails with exactly your error message. So, if I am correct, this is a problem with it's directory creation code.
