Sound fading out on Dell E521 with Nvidia and Karmic

Bug Description
Playing music (e.g. with Rythmbox) starts normal but within a few seconds the music is faded out and I can't here any sound" The audio settings are at a very high volume level.
The sound is muted until I reboot.
System was updated minutes before testing it another time (17.09.09, 8:55)
