Bug Description

This may be a duplicate of other ECC related bugs but I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell for sure so I just have to report it as new. I have Windows 7 RC on /dev/sda1, root on /dev/sda5 and home on /dev/sda6. I just installed the Karmic alpha two days ago to evaluate it and it ran fine, but I went back to Jaunty because of VMware Workstation problems. I did a clean install today and after updating and rebooting gdm didn't start. I used sudo start dbus, sudo start hal, sudo start network-manager, and sudo start gdm to gedt gdm going, but then I got this kernel oops error with a request to report it. I've attached the logs requested but couldn't figure out how to do multiple attachments so I put them all in a file named all-logs.log.

I hope this helps. And by the way, my thanks to all the devs working on this release. It was at least 20% faster when I installed it the other day, and I'm really looking forward to the Karmic release. If I can do anything else to help you can email me at <email address hidden>. I can switch back and forth between Jaunty and Karmic in about 30 minutes and have multiple backups so I'd be happy to test any changes or updates for you.

I just tried Karmic again and after manually running fsck on all ext4 volumes I can know reliably boot into gdm. I initially dropped into a console shell but as I said running fsck on all ext4 volumes enabled gdm boot.

It's not pretty, and there are a lot of errors reported, but I installed all my normal applications and even compiled my custom version of wine and can run all my Linux applications, and windows games, much faster than on Jaunty.

Fantastic work devs, thank you.
