Infinite loop when user attempts to use unsupported auth protocol

Bug Description

To reproduce, set up an IMAP account for a server that doesn't support, say, LOGIN authentication, and configure kmail to use LOGIN authentication (I did this because I don't know what the server supports, and kmail's detection failed). Attempting to access the account results in an error saying the protocol is not supported by the server, followed by a login prompt, followed by the error again, ad infinitum. Clicking 'Cancel' on the login prompt has the same results. So does attempting to close it by clicking the X. While this is happening, other kontact/kmail windows (such as the configuration window, where this could be fixed) are hidden behind the main window, and won't accept focus or mouse/keyboard events even if you do something clever like move it to another desktop. The only way I could find out of this loop was to kill kontact.

I am closing this report due to the lack of activity in the past 7 months. If you feel this is still an issue with the latest version of Kubuntu (KDE 3.5.6 or 3.5.7), I urge you to reopen this report. Thank you.
