Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

The GDM throbber animation shown in 9.10 preview has one too many frames (eg. the first and last frame is repeated) leading to a jerk where the animation appears to step backwards.

Ideally the progress animation should be smooth when cycled.

Even better, GDM should be returned to its original speed, avoiding the need for an animation throbber.

I believe it's the animation with a light pattern cycling below the Ubuntu logo -- shown when GDM loads, and after logging in via GDM when the desktop loads.

And yes, I confirm that this animation looks "broken" in the sense that it does not flow smoothly, which creates a bad impression. The animated part is also a bit small, compared to the size of the empty space on the screen.
