Bug Description

Binary package hint: ecryptfs-utils

On ubuntu after the desktop appears for the first time you get a popup window that asks you to record your encrypted passphrase.

If you click on run this action now you get a terminal window appear with the word "passphrase:" in it. However when you try to type in ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase at this prompt no test is shown. When you hit return after typing it in the terminal window just closes.

Why are you trying to type ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase?

This window is, in fact, running ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase for you. You're looking at the passphrase prompt from ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase.

You should be entering your system login passphrase. When you do so correctly, ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase will then print your randomly generated mount passphrase to screen.

I found the flaw it's in the wording and also Kubuntu.

With Kubuntu it only opens a standard terminal. Which means you need to type in the ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase command.

It may be better if the last line was to read thus:

Please type in you user password to show your ecrypt-passphrase at the "Passphrase:" prompt or type in ecrpytfs-unwrap-passphrase in a regular terminal session.

Cool, can you send a patch, with your preferred wording?
