Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

Additionaly is posibble try to reproduce this issue in latest Ubuntu Karmic version?

Thanks!

I have encountered similar problems with the ZEW1605A on a previous install of 9.04 and a fresh install of 9.10. With 9.04, when the card was installed the machine would boot until gdm started and then hang with a black screen showing only a white box where the login textbox appears. The mouse was non-responsive and the keyboard was dead (even hitting numlock wouldn't toggle the numlock LED). Restart with the card removed and everything is back to normal. So then I started the machine in recovery mode. From here, if I entered "netroot" the machine would hang with the following error:
wmaster0: unknown hardware address type 801
If I entered a root session without networking and did /etc/init.d/network start there was no hang.

At this point I went to install 9.10. With the card installed it would hang with the white ubuntu logo. After removing the card I was able to proceed with installation and do a fresh install wiping out the entire harddrive. Once the installation was complete (and I removed the CD) I put the card back in and once again it would hang whilte booting (at the white ubuntu logo). With 9.10, I couldn't even enter recovery mode because it would hang on the "Starting AppArmor" startement. If I remove the card, 9.10 boots up normally.

Let me know what other information I can provide to help.

I found this work around that let's me at least run 9.10 with the card installed. Start by installing Ubuntu with the card removed, after the install is complete edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and add the following line at the bottom:

  blacklist rtl8180

Now you can shutdown, install the card, and reboot. From here you should be able to use the ndiswrappers/windows drivers, but I haven't tried that yet.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We need some more information from you before we can start working on this bug.

Please run the following command which will attach necessary information:

apport-collect BUGNUMBER
if you are using Karmic Koala (9.10) or newer, or

apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` BUGNUMBER
if you are using Jaunty Jackalope (9.04)

Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository with 'sudo apt-get install python-launchpadlib'. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report.

If you are using an older release or cannot use apport please at least add the following information (pay attention to lspci's additional options):
First run the following commands:
1) uname -a > uname-a.log
2) dmesg > dmesg.log
3) sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log
4) cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
then attach the files separately to the bug report (not pasted into comments or tar/zip-ed).

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies. Thanks in advance!
