Bug Description

Since a couple of weeks (unfortunately I don't know when exactly) X (Gnome with Composite enabled) is randomly freezing on my Karmic box. SSH-Login is still possible, SysRq+K or sending a SIGKILL to Xorg does not work. I have to reboot the system to get a graphical interface again.

The following message is written on the console (serial console in my case):

Just adding a note that you guys may also want to track bug 429241. Comment #13 from that bug seemed to show the same errors noted here.

My computer freezes randomly too, and after that I can't it start, if it was turned off. But if I have press "Reset" it goes on without problem.

I found in www that is kernel problem.
There is my information if this can help to solve.

I have disabled the screen saver and did not received any crash since a week ago.
Also there was an update of GNOME screen saver that received today that describes the symptoms that I have had.

Peace

We are having this same issue on our Ubuntu 9.04. But we don't have the any of the GUI installed it's just the command line. This just started happening in the last 2 weeks. I've attached 2 screen dumps from the last 2 crashes and hope someone can help.

Thank you,

Mike
