[karmic] Shiretoko icon still present in GNOME menu

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Even though Karmic ships with the release version of Firefox 3.5, the GNOME menu still shows the Shiretoko development name as the icon label.

We already have an icon called Firefox, so we can safely remove the one called Shiretoko. :)

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. According to apport you are still running Jaunty which might be why you are seeing the Shiretoko icon. Could you please provide a screenshot?

If you look at the dependencies attached, you'll notice that all Firefox-related packages are indeed Karmic versions. I have both Jaunty and Karmic APT sources, with Karmic pinned at a lower priority.

I'll also mention that the Shiretoko icon did not appear until I upgraded all Firefox and Xulrunner packages were upgraded to Karmic versions.

Karmic Alpha 5 CD nor did a screenshot from a user on Karmic show this.

I also have this issue, and it annoys the heck out of me. I feel like my browser may be crashing every other minute when I'm on the internet. Can I do anything to help resolve this?

I also have this problem. Since an update 2 weeks ago or so, Firefox says "Shiretoko Web Browser" in the Applications menu. It also calls itself Shiretoko in an open window and the About screen says "About Shiretoko". It has the Shiretoko icon everywhere (the blue globe without the fox).

The daily archives are not officially branded as they are not official releases. If you need a "Firefox" branding, you should install the version from the Karmic archives on Karmic.

No, it should be labeled "Firefox Web Browser" too. Are you sure you have the firefox-3.5-branding package installed? By the way, this is trivial to fix if you go to System -> Preferences -> Main Menu.
