Dapper: Computer shutdown when playing or ripping audio CD for a while

Bug Description

I wanted to rip/encode an audio cd to ogg files, but after three or four tracks the computer just instantly went off. I tried this three times. Two times using Sound Juicer and one time using GRip. Then (while i wanted to report that bug) i tried to just play the audio cd using GRip, but also when just playing the cd, the computer switched itself off instantly after two or three tracks.

Everything else runs fast and stable.

One thing i realized: The computer just switched itself off immediately, but the num-pad led stayed on. And i could not turn the computer back on again using the (soft?) power switch, instead i had to turn the switch on the power supply off and on, then i could start the computer normally (except the system check of an ext2 partition at start).

The system:
Ubuntu Dapper Drake Beta
Athlon 1700+
512 MB DDR Ram
CD-Rom: dma on

Is this still a problem with released Dapper or with Edgy? How did you verify that the computer actually turned off ?

Hi, it's no longer a problem. I am on Edgy now and audio cd ripping works. I think it also did later in the final Dapper release.
