Bug Description

Binary package hint: speech-dispatcher

Speech-dispatchers is not properly started in LiveCD (Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Alpha i386 (20090911) leaving Orca screen-reader without a speech system.

Perhaps the boot scripts should be run with RUN_SPEECHD=yes

Does modifying the /etc/default/speech-dispatcher via casper initscripts solve this problem?

This looks generally OK, but you haven't tested your change - the space before each "]" is significant.

Once you've tested this and confirmed it to work, please reassign to casper.

Colin, this is not the right approach. The plan is for orca to start speech-dispatcher when it needs it. Once the live CDs are bootable again, I can debug this fully.
