selecting 'choose target branch' does not select 'other' in the radio buttons

Bug Description
This is basically bug #202407 but as applied to merge proposals.
When I was filling out the form for "Propose branch for merging", I hit 'Choose' to do a custom branch. When I came back from the dialog, it had filled in the text area, but had not selected the radio button.
I don't know if things would have been different if I typed in that area instead of using the chooser.
