no contact updates after initial setup

Binary package hint: kopete-facebook

The status of contacts does not change after initial setup.

e.g.
User starts kopete first time, configures facebook, contacts show up, contactA goes away, user does not know because the status in kopete does not update.
Only upon first restart (and crash) the contact's status will be updated properly.

It happens also to me something quite similar. I used this package in debian unstable. The first time I configured this plugin, some users that were online on facebook, were added to the user list of Kopete under the group "Facebook". Now I can't see other users online (even these which have been added before), and if they contact me, I can see their user ID on the window chat, in offline status, but not in user list.

I am using Kopete 0.80.2 and KDE 4.3.4.

Facebook now supports chat via XMPP (aka Jabber), which is a native plugin to Kopete. Due to this change of circumstances kopete-facebook was recently removed from the archives in favor of the present solution. It is currently not planed to deploy further updates to the version used in Kubuntu karmic.
