Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  krb5-kdc: Depends: libkrb53 (= 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-3) but 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-3ubuntu0.1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

If I execute:

# apt-get install -f

My ubuntu release is 8.10 (Intrepid)

Dear chuck, I'm wondering if you think your answer could help me.
In my sources.list there are only intrepid release entries.
I tried to force the purge of libkrb53 package with:
# dpkg --force-depends --purge libkrb53
# apt-get -f install
but when i tried to install the package krb5-kdc the same error appears.

Chears

#apt-get update
All repo are hit.
I changed it from my previous repo (mirror.garr.it) but it doesn' t solve the broken package error,
I'm thinking about porting the jaunty version or upgrade the os release.
Thanks
