No way to reply to individual emails of a MIME digest without opening them as an attachment

Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Currently, there seems to be no way to reply to any of the individual emails in a MIME digest. Instead, the reply button should be integrated into the parsed+formatted message header (when it exists, PGP-signed messages break this).

Evolution provides a good model: the attached messages are shown as attachments inline and are collapsible. Each has it's own reply button (etc) - which makes sense since each one is it's own email.

Hello Mike again,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2009 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 427274

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
