no video playing on site:
http://www.ndtv.com/news/videos/video_live.php?id=LIVE_BG24x7

while with Midori browser it does

Please post the output of the following commands. each line is its own command:

this happens on both versions of firefox?
Do you see this bug on other browsers? example epiphany-webkit epiphany-gecko or any other browsers that you know of? try both epiphany packages please

Yes it is working for youtube and other flash driven sites

for me the video plays. if youtube etc. work its maybe a connectivity issue. I think you didnt check if you have mozilla-plugin-gnash installed. if thats the case remove that too.

also ensure that you dont have a any libflashplayer in your profile like: find $HOME/.mozilla/ | grep libflashpl

remove those flashplayer instances if found
