OK, this affects Hardy Heron.

Happens every time I log in, NOT intermittent. The message continues:

Guidelines:
1)
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
2)
W: Unable to locate package control-center
3)
Log in; no errors
4)
About 5 error pop-ups with with "forbidden driving direction/do not enter" icons (red minus on red circle).
Maybe the scariest: "Internal error -- failed to initialize HAL!"

Thank you for your bug report, the dbus error suggests an issue with the installation rather than a bug in this software
