Bug Description

My Merlin U530 UTMS data card works fine with breezy and a self compiled 2.6.16 kernel, but not dapper with an official ubuntu 2.6.15 kernel.

It has been fixed in 2.6.16. I tried to back port the changes to 2.6.15, and ended up with source soup that wouldn't compile - not surprising with my C skills. Maybe someone else can do this better than I can, as it would be nice to have my data card working with a stock dapper kernel.

Just in case my initial report wasn't clear, the linked bugzilla.kernel.org item contains a patch to an early version of 2.6.16 which fixes the problem.

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this linux-source-2.6.15 kernel bug to the new "linux" package. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Also, if you would be interested in testing the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release, it is available at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Please let us know your results. Thanks!
