Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-media

When gnome-volume-control-applet firsts starts up, the mute checkbox on the right click menu doesn't work if the computer has started up with the sound device already muted. I have to either go into the Sound Preferences dialog and use the checkbox there - or use the mute/unmute key.

Thank you for your bug report, does it work if you move the volume slider before? What error do you get when it doesn't work?

I get no error when it doesn't work. The mute box stays checked and the little red/white x stays in place. As I say this is only when the machine first starts with the volume control in the mute position.

If I try to move the volume slider first then the slider returns to the 'zero' position and the mute checkbox then works properly.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Media is available in both Lucid and Maverick and we are wondering if this is still reproducible in any of those versions, May you please test and give us of feedback about it? Thanks in advance.
