Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-common

Using openoffice.org packages from the OpenOffice repository, Kubuntu 9.04, using latest backports packages of KDE 4.3.1, clicking on a mailto link in Writer does not work. Nothing happens.

Someone experienced something similar much earlier, in 2007:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=544625

I've tried that clue in the new /usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.1/program/kde-open-url but it did not work.

I need this for macros in Base that send mails via the hyperlink functionality.

I've tried it both with openoffice.org-kde support and without. No difference.

Do you still have this issue with the new version in Ubuntu 9.04 with the ppa at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa or Ubuntu Karmic?

Yes I have. I'm using Karmic with latest updates. My OOo is at 3.1.1-5ubuntu1, which by the way, solved most problems with the KDE-dialog. Thanks for that. But this bug is still the same, with or without kde-support installed.

Could you please have a look at this? It is still a problem in 3.2 that I installed from the PPA yesterday. It could very well be that the problem is not kubuntu-specific but also occurs in other Ubuntu-flavours. You would help me enormously by fixing this.

It seems I've found the cause of this problem. Looking at old posts again, I did: export MAILER=kmail in a shell and then started oowriter in the same shell. This solved the issue...

Roman,

Do you see this problem under Kubuntu Lucid?

Thanks,

Chris
