It is not really a bug. radeonhd defaults to DRI off and radeon defaults to DRI on. You can add
 Option "DRI" "on"
in the Device section of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to enable DRI.

We expect DRI to be on by default in the radeonhd driver soon.

We could do with DRI on, HDMI on and HDMI audio on by default from a user experience perspective.

Could somebody switch the Importance of this bug to 'wishlist' please, along with https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/412688. I haven't got permissions to do that.

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.
