Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution-data-server-common

After more than two years of testing various versions of Evolution which came with various Ubuntu releases, I can see no progress whatsoever as far as the question of function in connection with an Exchange 2003 server is concerned, so I wondered if Evolution could be completely uninstalled from a 9.04 system which runs on an Eee PC with only 4 GB internal flash memory (i.e. on a machine where one can't waste memory for programs that one does not use).

I was amazed to see that evolution-data-server-common cannot be uninstalled via Synaptic unless you wish to remove ubuntu-desktop, gnome-panel and various other important packages, too, which would basically mean that you would wreck your system.

I wonder why the Ubuntu developers would want to stipulate that Ubuntu users have to use Evolution.
