Bug Description

I just downloaded and created a USB stick with karmic-moblin-remix on it using the creat usb startup stick utility on 9.04. when i tried to launch moblin without installing and when trying to install it gets to one point and hangs. So, I can not install karmic-moblin-remix to test until this gets fixed.

Can you please run the install until it crashes, then attach /var/log/syslog, /var/log/partman, and /var/log/installer/debug to this bug report? Further instructions can be found at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs

Thanks!

Not sure that is possible given i am installing from a usb stick and when it starts all of those write errors i end up with a login prompt with no idea what the user id is. Ubuntu netbook remix installs fine as well as the other flavors of Ubuntu. Plain Moblin installs fine also. Confusing.

Don,

I've just tried this myself with usb-creator from Karmic using the 20091019 Moblin CD and the resulting image worked fine in KVM.

Have you checked to make sure the MD5SUM of the image you downloaded matches? Are you able to use the USB startup disk utility from a Karmic live CD or system to attempt to create a USB disk again?

When you get to that login prompt try "ubuntu" for the username and hit enter on the password prompt. If the installer hasn't started yet, /var/log/partman and /var/log/installer/debug wont be present, but /var/log/syslog should be. Attaching that may give us further clues as to what's going on here.

Thanks!
