Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpackagekit

I am using Kubuntu Jaunty.

When I do a search in KPackageKit, it just sits for a while, showing me a "cancel" button that doesn't work and a text "waiting for other tasks" next to it. After a while, it shows a dialog box saying:
"""
A problem that we were not expecting has occurred.
Please report this bug with the error description.

The backend took too much time to process the synchronous request - you need to fork!
"""

Running "apt-get" from the command-line doesn't work, either:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

That file is in use by a process "python /usr/lib/packagekit/aptDBUSBackend.py"
