The first launch was ok (right after the alpha5 installation) but I have the same problem now

Got the same as Jean-Yves, more or less: Installed alpha5, worked without a problem (also worked in the live CD) - then suddenly a crash just randomly and after that it won't start. Apport first told me to update, so I did that. No difference, apart from that Apport says that it can't extract any useful information (guess no debug info available?).

So it's hard to provide any extra info, since apport can't collect any.

I did set up one MSN and one Jabber account, and they worked at first.

Turns out for me at least, the whole works isn't crashing, just the empathy frontend (or something). After I opened the programme and it crashed today, someone sent me an IM about an hour later, my empathy frontend was then more than kind enough to open and display the message. So I guess telepathy itself is successfully connecting the the AIM servers but then empathy or empathy-gtk or something is dying but is then capable of waking up when needed by the backend. I really don't know how the telepathy framework is supposed to function...
