Binary package hint: moovida

When I launch moovida, I see no icons in the home screens. Also the menu headers seem to be garbled. Please find attached a screenshot showing the problem.

Extract from the chat with developers:

(07:29:11 IST) oSoMoN: it would also be interesting to see if pigment examples run fine on your setup
(07:30:57 IST) oSoMoN: try e.g. /usr/share/doc/python-pgm/examples/image.py

I have added few more screenshots showing strange display problems.

The example /usr/share/doc/python-pgm/examples/image.py works for me but moovida shows these problems.

@Mark: your problem is different than Onkar's.
Can you please file a separate bug report?

@Mark: This is unrelated. I guess you've plugged two displays on your PC, this is currently not supported.

@Onkar: Can you please attach the output of the "glxinfo -l" command? From my experience, I'd say that it's a graphics driver bug. It would be interesting to test other applications using the 3D graphics acceleration through OpenGL (neverball, tuxracer, google earth, etc) to see if the rendering is correct.

This indeed looks like driver bug. As I am also observing another similar bug identified as driver bug - bug #429295

This is indeed a video driver problem. Surprisingly the problem is fixed with radeon.modeset=1 kernel parameter. But the moovida becomes very slow.

Hi onkarshinde,

Thanks for including an image to demonstrate the issue. Could you also please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log or Xorg.0.log.old file from after reproducing this issue. If you've using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

In Lucid we're shipping modeset=1 as the default. It's true there are some performance regressions (see lp #544496)
