Bug Description
My IBM Thinkpad T60 prior to version: Linux version 2.6.31-7-generic and Linux version 2.6.31-8-generic used to correctly suspend from closing the lid when on battery power. It no longer does and I've verified that the power management applet says to suspend when lid closed.
It does resume correctly when you lift the lid and it does suspend manually when you use the power management applet.
