cant update linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic_2.6.24-19.41_i386.deb

every time i try to update linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic_2.6.24-19.41_i386.deb using this file i keep on getting errors and the is what it says:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic_2.6.24-19.41_i386.deb: unable to make backup link of `./boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-19-generic' before installing new version

and when i look at the details this is what i see.

How would I recover?

Also when i was updating the system after my first install I had a few other files crash I think the system said there was a total number of 5. I was also having probelms updating Open Office.

I am some what familiar with unix. But a bit rusty. mainly i use windows and i am tired of the viruses so i have switched the Ubuntu Linux. Can you please help with this problem that i can fix.

Can you comment if this is a wubi installation? This looks like a duplicate of bug 252900 .
