Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Sometimes Firefox 3.5.2's crash recovery happens automatically and without prompting. This means for instance that if you had a load of tabs open with embedded video, as I often do, all the videos will start playing at once, which is very annoying. At other times I do get prompted. Prompting is the sensible way to handle these situations, and is the expected behaviour according to the developers (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Session+Restore#Software_crash).

I should probably add that disabling recovery in about:config is not a good option because that deprives you of the option to recover your session should you need it.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox-3.5 -ProfileManager
