Kubuntu 8.04 period of support

The download page (http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/download) states that Kubuntu 8.04 will only be maintained through October 2009. I had thought that 8.04 was an Long-Term-Support release. The Ubuntu website (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download) states that 8.04 is maintained through April 2011.

So, I suspect this is just an error in the Kubuntu website. (I hope so. Why would the package maintainers keep maintaining everything except KDE?)

8.04 is not an LTS for Kubuntu. The web site is correct.

So, is support of the KDE packages in Ubuntu going to cease as of October 2009?

And if not, just what is the significance of Ubuntu 8.04 being LTS while Kubuntu 8.04 is not LTS?

Kubuntu 8.04 can't make LTS as it came while KDE4 was unsuitable for stble use; so it used KDE 3 by default. Now KDE 4 is stable and KDE3 is quite old and obsolete thus it is not suitable to make 8.04 LTS
