Bug Description

may be due to not enough free space on my hard-drive. only 200 - 300 mbs were free when it crashed. I freed some space upto 1 GB and marked it for re-installation using synaptic package manager and it worked.

Relevant error message:

* /etc/init.d/mysql: ERROR: The partition with /var/lib/mysql is too full!

As you've already found out, freeing up some space on the system fixed the problem.
