Upgrade to Karmic fails if linux-headers is needed but not installed

Binary package hint: update-manager

I tried upgrading my Jaunty 64-bit to Karmic today. It kept failing, telling me it "held broken packages." After some investigation, I tried installing the linux-headers package. There were some errors in the log about that. Once I installed the headers, the upgrade started fine.
Here's what I think is relevant from the log:

Installing linux-headers-generic as dep of dkms

Isn't this then a problem with the linux-header-generic package? Reassigning (please reassign back if I'm wrong.)

Hi Nattgew,

This indeed sounds like you may have just unluckily upgraded at the wrong time. Even though linux-meta was uploaded the new binary packages might not yet have been accepted :( I hate to admit it but uploads are sometimes done a bit sloppier in the earlier stages of the release cycle, hence the disclaimer "Pre-releases of Karmic are *not* encouraged for anyone needing a stable system or anyone who is not comfortable running into occasional, even frequent breakage." Regardless, I'm going to do a fresh jaunty installation and then upgrade it to Karmic to see if I'm able to reproduce. Thanks!

Bah, I forgot to update this bug. I was unable to reproduce this issue in my testing . I'm going to close this bug for now.
