Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Flash visuals (YouTube, etc.) work fine, but no sound at all in firefox.
Sound works fine in opera for the same URLs.
Sound works fine in totem on same videos after download.

No, killall esd doesn't help; there's no esd running.

No, installing libflashsupport doesn't help, since no such package is found.

No, editing FIREFOX_DSP to "none", "auto", or "aoss" makes no difference; ditto $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*/rc.

Also, to get sound in Skype, must first exit Firefox.

Running firefox 3.5.2.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Could this possibly be the same problem as bug 411962?

also have the same problem. with FF 3.5.3. Yesterday i sent linux to hibernate itself, with firefox open. (and yesterday everything worked fine), today ubuntu woke up, and no sound from firefox + flash. But it has sound at everything else (mediaplayer, vlc...)
i've tried to restart ffox and ubuntu as well, tried to remove and reinstall the flash plugin... but i can hear only the sound of silence.

Thank you for the update, if you leave other apps open, can you hear sound in them after resuming?

Most likely it's related to bug 411962 eversince pulseaudio was upgraded to a newer version. However following Vish's workaround on bug 411962 did solve my problem.
