Bug Description

The current release of foolscap is foolscap-0.4.2. This new version is required for Tahoe-LAFS. Brian Warner has provided an Ubuntu package for foolscap-0.4.2 and uploaded it to REVU: http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/p/foolscap . Here is the .diff.gz from it:

1) Change version to foolscap 0.4.2-0ubuntu1 (you'll upload package to Ubuntu, not Debian).
2) Set MaintainerFields. More on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebianMaintainerField
3) Please doesn't change Standards-Version, because it's rather work for Original-Maintainer in Debian.
4) What about file gbp.conf? Please include info about it in debian/changelog.
5) REVU is for new packages. Debian and Ubuntu both have got foolscap.

Please update your package and upload it on ppa for testing.

Ah, and foolscap-0.4.2+dfsg-1 was just uploaded to Debian unstable by POX, so please sync that, if that is an easier or better way to do it.

     /usr/share/python-foolscap/doc now.
   * Added dependency on python-all (>= 2.5.4-1~).
   * Using py_libdir in debian/rules now.

The following is intended to make this bug into a proper "sync request"
according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SyncRequestProcess

Source package name: foolscap

Source package version number to sync: 0.4.2+dfsg-1
 (current version in karmic: 0.3.2.dfsg-2, in 'universe')

Where to sync from: debian sid main

debian/changelog entries between current ubuntu and debian:

I've confirmed that the .dsc, .orig.tar.gz, and .diff.gz files are identical
between 0.3.2.dfsg-2 (in karmic) and 0.3.2.dfsg-2 (which is still in
squeeze), so there were no ubuntu-specific changes made in the existing
karmic version that would need to be carried over to 0.4.2 .

We're trying to get the new version of foolscap into karmic, because Tahoe
(whose FFe was just approved: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/421802)
depends upon the newer version. Please let me know if there's anything I can
do to help (I'm an upstream developer on both foolscap and tahoe).
