no sound coming out frm my laptop

there is a problem 2 days back i m adding or deleting som softwre after that i lost my laptop sound ......i donot knw that what software create this prob;em but if i then ireboot and on vista sound comes out but in ubuntu there is some problem no sound coming.........plz help me
