[Acer Aspire 7720] late resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

Trying to hibernate when system is installed on software RAID causes failure when trying to resume. Normal software suspend does work, but suspend to disk (hibernate) fails.

Annotation: This occured during a previous hibernate and prevented it from resuming properly. The resume processing hung very near the end and will have appeared to have completed normally.

I wanted to resume from hibernation but the screen stayed black (with some flickering grey lines).
