Bug Description
Use case:
Would like to take a screen shot of some menus using the "Selection" method, however whenever a menu is active, the assigend key combination does not work.
Have seen this behavior with the "Applications" menu, as well as with any other menu from an application.
I am using Ubuntu 9.04 X64, Shutter v0.80.1 ref 579
Any ideas?

Most toolkits (like gtk) do a grab when a menu is displayed. In this case keybindings are not working in general.
There is a similar bug filed for gnome-screenshot. You might want to have a look at the discussion if you are interested in more technical details: bugzilla. gnome.org/ show_bug. cgi?id= 524468

I think there is not much we can do here, but I totally agree with you that we need to find a way to capture menus more easily.
