Bug Description
When installing a new kernel image, if there is not enough disk space for the ramdisk, the package will still finish installing and will still add itself to the grub boot menu. However, upon rebooting, the new kernel will fail to load because the ramdisk wasn't properly generated. Handling this error requires a level of knowledge of booting, GRUB, and Linux which non-uber-geek users shouldn't be expected to have.
If there isn't enough disk space to build the ramdisk, then either the install script should cancel the package install or the new kernel should not be added to the grub boot list (or at least not be the default).
Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'linux-image'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.
