Bug Description
Since nvidia cards can handle DRI2, the option in compiz to "unredirect fullscreen windows" should be disabled by default when the nvidia drivers are installed. Otherwise, the screen flashes when switching between fullscreen and normal windows.

As far as I know, the Nvidia driver doesn't support DRI2 (it's not a free driver) even though it seems that DRI2 is loaded in the X.org log.
If I disable "unredirect fullscreen window" in compiz the problem that you mentioned goes away but then I get noticeable tearing when playing videos (with vsync enabled).
In any case the "problem" affects compiz, not nvidia-common.
