Bug Description

I got a segfault yesterday from xchat-gnome (my first after months of intensive usage :). Attached is a backtrace. I got it while the users list was open and IIRC I typed something in the chat entry widget.

Let me know if you need more information, it happend on a up-to-date dapper box (xchat-gnome: 0.11-0ubuntu3 , libsexy: 0.1.7-0ubuntu4 )

Thanks for your bug report Michael.

Are you able to reproduce this bug?
If yes, it would be fine to generate a debug stack trace.
I have a debug build of the package here : http://www.cerkinfo.be/~kujo/xchat-gnome_0.11-0ubuntu3_i386.deb

Michael, have you any idea how this bug could be reproduced?
Did you have this crash more than one time?

Without more informations, i fear than this bug should be rejected.

Yes, I can reproduce it reliable. Just open the userlist, search in it (with type-ahead search) and make sure that you are in a busy channel. I get the crash after a couple of seconds (with current xchat-gnome and current libsexy). The crash is in userlist_gui_show () - I don't have more details because the listwindow grabs the focus I was unable to type anything in gdb (it was runing in a terminal). I'll attach a gdb from the console next and see that gives a better backtrace.

Seems like this upstream bug:

Michael, could you take a look on the trace and compare it with your crash, please ?

upstream has commited a potential fix to the SVN and closed the bug, feel free to reopen if that happens again with the next version
