Bug Description

Auto-synchronize doesn't seem to work for me. I typically create and check off tasks in RTM, but most of the time, I don't see those changes in Astrid until I perform a manual sync. I have observed the auto-sync working correctly once or twice in the past week or two.

Are you aware of any situations in which this might happen?

I'll append comments as I find more information for you to work with.

If you have any more information, that would be great. How often is your auto-synchronization setting?

Hi Tim, sorry I didn't have more information for you!

My setting is "twice an hour."

I discovered the Last Sync information in the synchronization settings dialog and this has been helpful. I haven't been able to get more precise (work on the Kepler mission, kepler.nasa.gov, keeps my hands full), but it looks like the synchronization is only firing once every hour or two instead of every half hour.

Maybe that'll be enough, but I'll keep looking for more patterns and clues.

Thanks!

Hey Tim, in case it matters I've got a T-Mobile myTouch.

I watched the sync times more closely today. As I said, my synchronization is set to go off twice an hour or every thirty minutes. It appears that Astrid is keeping to this schedule, except when it doesn't. I observed a roughly equal number of one hour gaps, one and a half hour gaps, and two hour gaps. It didn't seem to matter if Astrid was in the foreground or swapped out.

Do you have any logging that might help us determine whether the timer fails to fire or it's firing but fails to start a sync for some reason?

I've had similar suspicions of auto-sync on my HTC Hero (build number 2.73.61.5, kernel version 2.67.27, firmware 1.5)

Auto-sync is set to twice an hour.

Using "Synchronize Now!" from Synchronisation menu works each time.

I don't know if this is related, but the Synchronize shortcut in the main menu doesn't always update my task list (perhaps this is a separate bug?)

Oh, and the Hide Dialogs option is set as well

I'm having the same problem, except I don't think I've ever seen it sync automatically. I have a Motorola Cliq, set to sync every hour with Remember the Milk. The "Synchronize Now!" link always works.

I am seeing the same behavior. I also have a Motorola Cliq and set it to sync every half hour with RTM. I have not seen it sync automatically. Manual syncing works fine.

Similar problem for me, too. Using an HTC Magic with Cyanogenmod-4.2.14.1 ROM (Android 1.6).
I have auto-synchronize set to hourly, yet my tasks sync with RTM only when I use Synchronize Now. The Last Sync Data also updates only when synchronizing manually with Synchronize Now.

The most recent version has a fix for the auto-sync bug. Please test the
current market version and let us know if it resolves your problem.

Warmly,
Jon Paris

Looks like the update fixed the problem. I was able to successfully auto-sync tasks from Astrid to RTM, and from RTM to Astrid.

Good work! Thanks.
