dhclient hooks should not output messages on the root console

Ubuntu 9.04 i386/amd_64 server
Samba 3.3.2

Message "* Reloading /etc/samba/smb.conf smbd only" is periodically written to root console.

I guess that interval is about 30 minutes.
I don't see such message in /var/log/samba/log.smbd or other samba log file.
I installed Samba during server install but I left default samba configuration, no SMB config files were edited.

Part of log.smbd. Restarting message was written to thye console at 15:55:59 and 16:24:59, events with SIGHUP:

Looks like you're running with DHCP ?
/etc/dhcp3/dhclient-enter-hook.d/samba restarts samba every time a new lease is BOUND|RENEW|REBIND|REBOOT|EXPIRE|FAIL|RELEASE|STOP.

OK, then altering/reloading samba configuration on DHCP lease changes is done by design, not a bug.

From my point of view bug is that message "* Reloading /etc/samba/smb.conf smbd only" is written to root console. This message should be written to log file or to /dev/null, not to the console of root.

It is good that you know why this message is written. Can you redirect it?

One more notice. I run DHCPD client but IP address is the same, no changes of IP address in time; once assigned, address is preserved at DHCP server....

So the issue is more about DHCP3 dhclient hooks directly outputting messages to root console rather than logging/redirecting them. Though this can be fixed on a per-hook basis, this is not specific to the samba hook.
