Bug Description

See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1238766

Unlike the original poster, I needed to edit madwifi.conf.

I had a problem with jockey restoring the ath5k driver after de-activating madwifi. ath5k remained blacklisted and I had to edit /etc/modprobe.d/madwifi.conf to restore it manually.

Reason I tried madwifi was connection problems due to bad signal from wireless router. But restoring the default ath5k driver left me with no wireless due to ath5k being blacklisted after discovering router deficiency.

I probably would not have been so persistent had I been at home, but we are visiting relatives and there was no other option than to get this issue solved. My brother-in-law had all the rj-45 jacks filled with his things.

Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04
Linux kernel 2.6.28-14
jockey-gtk 0.5-0ubuntu10
jockey-common 0.5-0ubuntu10

Jockey itself uses blacklist-ath_pci.conf to blacklist/unblacklist ath5k, it doesn't touch other configuration files. Was madwifi.conf created by the madwifi package or by yourself?

I'm very hesitant to change configuration files which don't belong to Jockey, that's too much like tramping over the admin's customizations.

madwifi.conf was/is created by madwifi. I try not to muck about in /etc directories except as a last resort. Maybe it's a madwifi problem and not strictly a jockey bug. I'm sticking with the FOSS driver for Atheros (kernel blob?) for now.

OK, thanks. Jockey should look into this file as a special case, unless it's a conffile (I have to check).
